110th ANNIVERSARY OF THE
DEATH OF CHIEF JUSTICE MELVILLE FULLER
February 11, 1833 – July 4, 1910
Today marks the 100th Anniversary of the death of Chief Justice Melville Fuller at his home in Sorrento in 1910 at the age of 77.
The Fullers first came to Sorrento in the Summer of 1894 and stayed in General Greely's cottage named West View. He would later purchase Main Stay from the land company and also built his small study across the street.
Years ago I rented in Sorrento a cottage/cabin known as Fuller's Den. It is not the cottage pictured here, but something much more modest. As of late, I can't find any mention of this. Is it gone?
ReplyDeleteHi Peter - yes, Fuller's Den is still in town owned by a private party - it is located near the rear of Main Stay on another road - at some point I'll do a longer piece on Fuller and his houses -
